I offer an Original 1969 Vietnam Period Gerber MKII Combat Knife w/Sheath. Not just an early MKII Gerber but maybe a very important 1969 example. When I first looked into why this example had a 5 digit serial number rather than the 6 I was expecting and add the fact the leading number in the 5 digit serial number has a extremely light strike. I found the reason on the web.

The use of trademark symbol (TM, ®) appears on this website means that the word text, trademarks, logos or slogans, is being used as trademark under common laws protection and/or registered as Trademark in U.S. Asus m5a78l-m/usb3 windows 10 compatibility

Gerber Command I Knife-NM with Low Serial Number Rare early version with chrome clip Gerber released this version of their famous Mk.I boot knife for those whose municipalities would not permit a true double-edge knife. This resulted in a knife that served self-defense, survival and general woodsman purposes.

I found John Sabols MKII website and the doors opened wide. It is proof of the Gerber Stamping dies failing during 1969 production. Please understand that my knowledge of this matter comes from John Sabol's website. I found out by reading John's entries on MKII serial numbers. First, why this knife has 5 digits and should rather than the more standard 6 digits. The single leading zero is missing on many knives between S/N 10034 and 12107.

Not sure if the leading zero problem is sporadic or continuous in the range of the above mentioned serial numbers. A total breakdown of serial number stamping dies resulted in the Gerber factory applying the serial numbers with an electro-etch. The first electro-etched example John Sabol has seen was an etched S/N of 12588 (no leading zero etched).

Thank you again John! The knife for sale here is number 12339. 250 knives away from electro-etching the numbers. You can see from the very weak stamping of the leading number 1, clear evidence the die stamping was already failing when this knife was stamped. Knife blade is 6 3/4' and retains its needle point. Original and professionally died Gerber 3-Line Sheath. Overall a Collectors Grade Excellent Original Vietnam Period MKII and Sheath.
