A quick side note: VirtualBox is cross platform compatible, and while we’re demonstrating installing Windows 10 in Mac OS Catalina, macOS Mojave, MacOS Sierra, Mac OS X High Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite here, you can actually run through this exact tutorial on any other major operating system as well outside of the Mac.

Have you done a search in the forum with the keywords 'xp sound'?Have you installed the guestadditions (short:ga's)?What sounddevice is listed in windows devicemanager? What soundconfiguration have you choosed in the virtualbox vm-properties?I'm using windows2000 (short:w2k), my virtualbox vm-properties are CORE audio and ICH AC97, and before installing the ga's you will have to deinstall any other sounddevice listed as installed in device-manager, reboot, and then install the ga's.May the groove be with you. Also, I cannot find any applications on the virtualbox icon. I am a complete newbie. This is frustrating.have you installed ga as tkwm told you?you have sound now or still no sound?when you run your virtualbox and start your virtual machine then you choose Devices (top screen) and install guest additions.now go to 'my computer' and you should see on D: or E: drive (as tkwm says) vitual box guest additions, just click on it and let it finish and restart.as the matter for your sound; in your audio settings in virtual box: what have you chosen?also, you use an audio or midi interface?

GoPano Plus is an optic that attaches to your digital camera, SLR lens, or camcorder and creates seamless panoramas using a curved mirror. The specially designed mirror gathers light from all directions and reflects it into the lens of your camera-the single image that's created shows everything in a 360 degree ring around the optic. Or you just use your macs soundcard to listen to sounds? Posts: 30 Joined: 14.

At least it is taking a really long time to proceed, whereas the earlier ga's installed promptly. I think it is frozen. Nothing is happening. If Virtual Box knows it needs to install the ga's to work, why do I have to know all this? Why doesn't it just install them if it needs them and not give me a product that I have to psyche out to get to work?I appreciate that the answerers on this forum have forgotten more about this software than I will ever know, or ever care to know. I speak several languages.

Computerese is not one of them. You may find this hard to believe, I have never played a computer game of any kind, nor do I care to. I would rather play real golf than computer golf. I do not see that the skills are comparable. Posts: 7 Joined: 26.

Or you just use your macs soundcard to listen to sounds?Dear MaxI am unable to find audio settings in virtual box.I do not understand the second question. I just plug my headphones into the computer and sound is there. I don't have to make any special adjustments. The sound does not work on the windows 'tour' so I presume it is silent on everything else.

My only goal in installing Virtual Box in the first place is with a view to watching the Dallas Cowboys/Texas Longhorns while working in India/Australia. Obviously no sound will compromise the tv experience.

In the virtualbox-preferences under OS-X, not under windows, before you have started the vm, there is a line 'Audio' by clicking on it you can change the entries. I use Core Audio and ICH AC97.

But your windows in the vm must be shut down, it does not work if you safe the state of the windows from outside.Max' second question was because he uses an external sounddevice, you are using the mac-internal-sounddevice.You should also have a look into windows-devicemanager for the installed soundcard, if it says sb16 or something with soundblaser, you will have to deinstall it. Reboot and then install the ga again. On how to find and use devicemanager have a look in the windows help.

You can do there a search for devicemanager.Oh and Computerese is much simpler than any other language, it consists only of ones and zeros, computers don't lie and don't want to 'sell you an insurance'. Doubtful I would have ever gotten around to clicking that particular icon, as i didn't realize it was anything but a list.

More of a control panel really. Thanks for being genius'es.Anybody ever used the d4tv or one of the 'watch tv on your PC' programs?

Are they scams or do they work and do you have to be a computer genius to get them to work? Thanks again guys.PS Lack of computer scams/viruses is one of the attractive things about the Mac OS for people like me. Otherwise it's a scam a minute on the internet, No?Ever see the t-shirt that says '.guns don't kill people, I kill people'? Always best to beware of '.Lies, and the lying liars who tell them'. Anybody ever used the d4tv or one of the 'watch tv on your PC' programs? Are they scams or do they work and do you have to be a computer genius to get them to work?well i had for several years an italian produced external Tv tuner device called, Empire Dual TV tuner. It worked ok. Had some difficulties from time to time with loading the application and get things running.but it is not smooth and recently i removed it cause it does not work anymore. Wont load the monitor cause of some runtime error.I have heard that Terratec and Hauppauge is working fine. Try to google them and see what you can find on tests.depending on what kind of signal you have you need to have a dual for both analog and digital signal.nothing genius in making them work. Just install the software, connect the device and let it scan. Posts: 30 Joined: 14.

By the way, because of possible difficulties with usb in virtualbox the external devices may not work.@taterI don't know d4tv. Here in germany there I know two programs that allows to watch tv-content on the computer, one is called free.save.tv the other is called onlinevideorecorder, as far as I remember the url is.

Both work and offer german tv-content, but it is no live stream, they work as a kind onlinevideorecorder, there are other programs, some of them do live-streaming of tv-content, but I havn't tried them. And tater in your answer I found 2 misassumptions from which one may be dangerous. At the moment, for Mac-OS-X are only two or three worms/viruses/trojans known. But to believe that on Mac-OS no viruses are possible is dangerous. It's like believing, that in your small village no one has aids, and so one can f.k around without using rubbers.

Macs are getting more and more interesting to criminal groups that would like to get your creditcardnumber or even to steal your mailaccount. It's only a question of time when this might happen.
